Motivational interviewing is a client-centred communication style that helps people talk themselves into change, rather than being told to change. Instead of advising or persuading someone into action, you ask the right questions and let them hear their own reasons for wanting change.

About the event
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a client-centred communication style that helps people talk themselves into change, rather than being told to change. Instead of advising or persuading someone into action, you ask the right questions and let them hear their own reasons for wanting something different.
In this session, we'll be joined by Registered Nutritionist Jemma Joel who will teach us about:
What motivational interviewing actually is (and what it isn't)
Why it works so well for nutrition clients specifically
The core skills that make MI different from standard advice-giving
How to start using it in your very next client conversation
Whether you're newly qualified and want a stronger toolkit, or you've been practising for years and keep hitting the same wall with "unmotivated" clients, this session will change how you run every consultation that follows.
