About the event
Nutrition misinformation is everywhere, from social media posts to anecdotal advice from friends, and it can be challenging for nutrition professionals to respond confidently.
In this up to 45 minutes session, you’ll be joined by Registered Associate Nutritionist Maya Tu, to learn how to confidently navigate these conversations with empathy, evidence and professionalism.
In this session, you’ll learn:
How to identify whether it’s appropriate to highlight misinformation to a person
A step by step framework for managing misinformation in conversation
How to apply the step by step framework in practice using common nutrition misinformation examples
The key communication skills needed to tackle misinformation professionally
By the end of this session, you’ll leave with a practical toolkit for handling nutrition misinformation confidently, while maintaining positive relationships with clients and the wider public.
Plus there’ll be time to ask your own questions.
About Maya Tu
Maya is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) with the Association for Nutrition (AfN). Since completing her Undergraduate degree, at King's College London, and her Masters, at UCL, she has been a part of the nutrition team at The Jamie Oliver Group and has also worked at Rhiannon Lambert's company, Rhitrition. Currently, she is completing a postgraduate diploma in Performance Nutrition to get the Sports Nutritionist qualification and hopefully work with elite athletes in the future.
